Final Fantasy 14: Let the game begin
Now, you are finally ready to get stuck in and play the game,
first, you should head on over to the lodestone, it’s the official community
site for all things final fantasy, it will give you tips and guides as well as
keep you up to date with everything that’s happening inside and outside the
game.
Levelling up
Get used to navigating the main screen as you will be seeing
this a lot, you can play around with the UI and find what you like, below is
an example of your screen.
At present the level cap is 90 in FF14 if you own all the
expansions, to level up there are many main quests, and side quests that give
you experience. Other ways to earn experience points are by doing such things as:
- Guild heists- Training exercises for 4 to 8 players (easy)
- Dungeons- 4 people, contains trash mobs and 3 mini bosses (easy)
- Daily Roulettes- A mixture of all playable content.
- PVP- Fighting against other players in various arenas.
- Alliance raids- 24-man content that has both trash mobs and boss battles
Other Content
- Trials- 8 people fight generally one boss (Moderate)
- Raids- 8 people against 1 main boss (hard)
- Deep Dungeons- Uses a separate levelling system from the rest and is stand-alone from normal gameplay.
There are also savage raids and extreme trials you can
tackle once you are a more experienced player as the difficulty levels spike.
The last thing that can be done is Ultimate fights, these
have insane difficulty and are designed for the raiding community. To tackle these, you need to be well-geared
and know how to optimise your gameplay and handling of mechanics.

My Opinion
I prefer to do the more difficult content such as raids and
high-floor levels of deep dungeons. I
also enjoy PVP as it brings out my competitive side and I like to beat the
other team I am up against as you know it is real players and not NPCs. Dungeons can feel a little repetitive and I tend to not do these as often. Extreme primal I find fun as they are a similar difficulty to early floor raid tier bosses. With patches released about every 4 months and expansions released around every 2 years, I find enough new content to keep the game interesting.
